Suede shoes are the perfect addition to any outfit, but they can be difficult to keep clean. After all, thanks to the material, stains, grime, and dirt can easily latch onto the shoes, not letting go without a good cleaning job. Unfortunately, while you can do your best to keep your suede shoes in the best condition possible, there comes the point in time where you will need to sit down and get them clean.

That being said, cleaning, while a little challenging, isn't impossible! To help you clean your suede shoes and restore their fresh, velvety look quickly and easily, here are a couple of steps you can follow:

Step 1. Gather the Things You Need

First things first, you will need to gather the tools you need before you get started. Grab yourself a suede brush or a toothbrush, a suede rubber or clean block eraser, a microfiber cloth, suede protector spray, some baking soda and water.

Step 2. Brush Your Shoe

Begin by giving your shoes a good brush with a suede brush. This will help to loosen any dirt or debris that's embedded in the suede. Just make sure to brush in the same direction as the pattern or grain. If you find grime that's really stuck, then brush gently back and forth to loosen the dirt.

Step 3. Get Rid of Stains

If there are any stubborn stains, treat them with a suede eraser or pencil eraser. Gently rub the eraser over the stain until it disappears. If the stain persists, you can try using a suede brush to lift it off and then erase it again. If you are dealing with a tough stain, you can use vinegar on a microfiber cloth to rub it into the stain. Make sure to only dampen the surface and not soak it. Once the vinegar evaporates, the material will return back to its colour, and, hopefully, the stain will be gone.

Step 4. Clean the Entire Shoe

Once the stains are gone, you can move on to cleaning the entire shoe. Make a paste out of baking soda and water, and use a soft cloth to apply it to the shoes. Rub the paste into the suede in a circular motion, and then let the shoes dry.

Step 5. Brush Them Once More

Once the shoes are dry, brush them again with a suede brush to restore the nap. And, again, for best results, brush in the same direction as the grain!

Step 6. Use Protector Spray

For extra protection, you can spray your shoes with a suede protectant. This will help to repel water and stains and keep your shoes looking great for longer.

Conclusion

As you can see, cleaning your suede shoe isn't tough. In fact, you can get it fully cleaned with at-home items already! But of course, if you want to invest in a proper cleaning kit, there are tons out there that are incredibly affordable, and they're worth it. Why? Well, just imagine being able to keep your suede shoes in perfect condition for many years to come with a little caring.
